Want to see the Tatra Mountains’ greatest natural attractions in under three days? Easy. Soak up the spirit of the land and connect with nature while you hike the highest of the Polish mountains. A couple of nights spent in a traditional mountain shelter will have you immersed in the rich history of the region.

Tatra Mountains are the highest mountain range in the Carpathian Mountains – a natural border between Slovakia and Poland with the highest peak in Poland – Rysy, rising to an elevation of 2499 meters. They are protected as the Tatra National Park. Zakopane, a town at the foot of the Tatra Mountains, is a centre of the Highlanders culture. Admire the views over the Valley of the Five Lakes, boasting unique architecture including wooden houses built without the use of a single metal nail and have their own, traditional names. Discover the natural beauty of the region and gaze in awe at the breathtaking views of the summits.

Friday

Transfer from Krakow to Palenica Białczańska – starting point of the journey. This is where you meet your guide. This day you will hike (approximately 3 hours) through a beautiful Roztoki Valley to the Morskie Oko – the most beautiful Tatra lake with the breathtaking view of the highest Tatra’s summits. After a short rest, we start climbing up to the Five Polish Lakes’ Valley. After approximately two hours hike, whilst soaking up the stunning views, we will reach Five Polish Lakes’ chalet where a warm meal and well-deserved rest will await you.

Saturday

After breakfast, we continue all day trekking through Krzyżne Pass, admiring the most beautiful Tatra views. Along the way, we might have a close encounter with marmots, Tatra chamois and other mountain inhabitants. Learn about the uniqueness of the Tatra nature through the eyes of an experienced and knowledgeable guide. The long walk up might seem quite monotonous, but the gorgeous vistas are guaranteed to reward your effort and take your breath away. The day ends in Murowaniec Mountain Chalet where we have a delicious dinner and comfortable accommodation ready.

Sunday

After breakfast, be prepared for a day-long hike to Kasprowy Wierch and Kondracka Kopa, where you will be able to admire the views of a completely different landscape of the Western Tatras. We end the trip in Kuźnice where we meet with the driver, who will take us to a restaurant for a well-deserved highlander’s style dinner. The day ends in Cracow, where we return in the late evening.

Essential clothing and things to know

Be prepared for an exciting 3-days of mountain trekking where we will walk with all the luggage, therefore make sure your backpack is not too heavy. Don’t forget to bring a sleeping bag, flashlight, water container, waterproof jacket, trekking boots and sun protection. In the mornings temperatures are still pretty low, so bring base layers and warm clothing.


Activity level

This trip requires good (moderate) level of fitness as it involves a lot of hiking, allowing you to really get among nature. Be ready for about 7-8 hours of walking in the high mountains with a backpack per day. Don’t forget sturdy, comfortable walking shoes and comfortable clothing.
