Friday
We are leaving Warsaw, the country’s capital, at noon at the latest. When we arrive at our destination and check into our guesthouse, we have lunch and head straight for our first adventure: evening elk tracking. This majestic animal is a symbol of the area. The Biebrza Valley is the largest habitat of this species in Poland. There are about 1,400 individuals living here. On our guided tour, we will try to spot those clumsy giants in bushes and marshes in the Biebrza valley. Evening is the time when the males start their mating roars – if we fail to spot these beautiful mammals – we will surely hear them.
Our evening ends with a local dinner that may surprise you with a richness of flavors of traditional cuisine recipes such as dumplings stuffed with venison or blueberries, potato cake with mushroom sauce, and various kinds of local fish. We end with a liqueur tasting next to the fireplace. Tomorrow we start at sunrise!
Saturday
Let’s visit another local animal – the beaver. For that, we jump onto a catamaran at dawn and, guided by our local guide, attempt to spot beavers at their breakfast – before they hide for the day.
After breakfast in a local restaurant, we continue to discover the secrets of the largest national park in Poland. One of the highlights will be hiking in the marshy areas – your guide will provide you with special shoe covers and you will follow in the footsteps of moose and wolves. It’s a really amazing feeling to be so close to nature. Continuing our tour of the park, we will try to see the cranes preparing for departure. Maybe you will be able to observe them dancing?
In the evening there is something special to help you feel the majesty of this animal and bird refuge – a balloon ride over the river (optional, extra fee). The last pleasure of the day is chatting over tasty meals in a cozy restaurant.
Sunday
Now it’s time to change perspective and hop aboard a canoe. We will take a 3 hour river canoe excursion to see water life up close, especially birds, and to relax. And on the way back, we will have lunch and stop for pictures of several picturesque places.
The trip ends in Warsaw, see you next time!
